The Garden

A blue island on a pale terrace

Pale grey pavers run from the back of the house out across the garden, and everything is set on them in a handful of deliberate pieces. A louvered pergola covers the dining table, a deep-blue kitchen island sits across the yard from it, and a charcoal fire table anchors the lawn. Strings of bulbs and glowing pergola lights bind the whole space after dark.

Chapter 1 · Pergola & Shade

A louvered roof over the dining table

The pergola is a dark steel frame with adjustable louvers, overhead heaters and a drop-down screen on one side. Beneath it a long table with woven chairs sits on a patterned rug, steps from the back doors. Pale pavers continue straight through, so the covered area reads as part of the terrace.

Chapter 2 · The Outdoor Kitchen

An L-shaped island in deep blue

The kitchen is an L-shaped island finished in deep blue with a pale counter, a built-in grill, sink, wide drawers and a fridge. It stands on its own in the paving, a short walk from the table. Stepping pads set in turf and gravel lead back across to the pergola.

Chapter 3 · After Dark

String lights and a glowing roof

After sunset the pergola louvers light up in white lines and bulbs are strung across from the tall tree. A charcoal fire table burns on the paving at the edge of the turf. Small ground lights mark the edges of the paving.

Chapter 4 · Lawn & Play

A second pergola for practice

At the far end of the turf, a second dark pergola shelters a hitting mat with a screen behind it. It gives the yard one more reason to go outside, and its roof lights match the dining pergola.
