The Garden

One stone palette, from the patio to the path

Blue-gray flagstone carries through every part of this garden, from a formal patio of cut stone to irregular flagstone paths and a round stone fire pit. Stacked stone risers, bright bougainvillea and soft grasses keep the hard surfaces feeling warm.

Chapter 1 · The Terraces

Chapter 2 · The Fire Pit

A fire pit for cool evenings

A round fire pit in natural stone with a bluestone cap and blue fire glass sits in a dark gravel seating area, with room for a ring of chairs. Flagstone steps and a stone wall frame it, and a flagstone path leads back across the yard.

Chapter 3 · The Garden

Paths that wind through the planting

Flagstone paths curve past ornamental grasses, a small Japanese maple, daylilies and bright bougainvillea. Low path lights follow the route, and mulched beds keep the planting tidy.
