A paver driveway and front patio, a floating stepping-stone path through river rock, and layered low-voltage lighting.

The Garden

Clean lines in gray stone, river rock and light

The front yard is organised around a handful of materials: gray concrete pavers, broad stepping slabs set in river rock, and a curved concrete curb edging the lawn. Low-voltage lighting washes the brick base and the path, so the entrance looks as good at night as it does in daylight.

Chapter 1 · The Arrival

A paver porch for two chairs

The paver court runs right up to the front of the house and forms a small porch landing beside the window. Two gray Adirondack chairs and a side table sit in a bed of river rock and ornamental grasses. At dusk the same corner glows from low path lights.

Chapter 2 · The Terraces and Paving

Pavers, slabs and a curved curb

From above, the plan is easy to read: a paver driveway and patio, a line of broad concrete stepping slabs set in gray river rock, and a lawn held in by a curved concrete curb. Ornamental grasses and succulents are planted in the rock beds beside the path. The mix of rectangular and curved shapes keeps the front yard crisp without feeling severe.

Chapter 3 · After Dark

Light along the path and the paving

Path lights line the stepping slabs, and each slab is lit softly from the beds beside it. Uplights wash the brick base of the house and the planting, and the paver court holds the glow. From above at night, the path and patio read as a clear line of light.
