A herringbone paver patio ties the whole yard together, from a built-in kitchen to a round white fire bowl on a capped seat wall. Pale stepping-stone slabs float in black pebbles, and copper path lights carry the look from daytime into the evening.

Chapter 1 · The Patio and Kitchen

A built-in kitchen on a paver patio

A built-in grill island faces the patio, finished in stacked stone veneer with a granite counter, a sink and stainless doors and drawers. Stacked-block planter walls sit beside it, and the herringbone pavers run right up to both. Pale slabs set in black pebbles step across the planting bed with a copper light alongside.

Chapter 2 · The Paths

A curving herringbone path along the house

A curving path of gray herringbone pavers, edged with a soldier course, leads from the patio past the back door. A wide paver landing steps up to the door, and copper path lights line a dark mulch bed along the way.

Chapter 3 · After Dark

Lit for the evening

After dark, a warm strip light under the seat wall washes the white fire bowl, and copper path lights show off the stepping stones. Small lights under the plants and the planter walls pick out the palms and the maple. In the kitchen view, the grill glows red beside the lit fire bowl at the far end.
