The Garden

A backyard for lounging and for play

This smaller backyard pairs a wood pergola and a stone fireplace with an open green lawn crossed by square stepping pavers. Warm stone and natural wood tie the seating corner together, while pale concrete squares and a low block wall keep the lawn side calm.

Chapter 1 · The Fireplace

A stone fireplace to gather around

A rugged stacked stone fireplace sits on a raised stone base topped with slate caps, with a stone-clad pergola post nearby that echoes the same material. The patio around it is laid in warm, lightly textured pavers. It is a compact way to give a yard a focal point and a reason to sit outside.
